KCET 2025 exam schedule and result dates
The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2025 was the central entrance route for undergraduate professional courses in Karnataka, including engineering, commerce, management and other degree programs. The examination was administered by the Karnataka Examinations Authority through its CET Cell. Learn more about Classified.
The published examination window was 15–16 April 2025, with the result scheduled for 14 May 2025. The wider schedule covered applications, corrections, hall-ticket access, the provisional answer key, objections and final key publication.
For Australian students and parents, KCET should be considered alongside local pathways such as UAC in New South Wales, VTAC in Victoria, QTAC in Queensland and WA university admissions. ATAR scores, international admissions and KCET ranks serve different purposes and cannot be treated as equivalents.
April also brings daylight-saving changes in parts of Australia. During the examination, 10:00 am IST corresponded to 2:30 pm in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, 2:00 pm in Perth and 2:30 pm in Adelaide. Candidates sitting the test in India should always follow the clock and reporting instructions printed by their centre.
What KCET 2025 covered
KCET tested Class 11 and Class 12-level knowledge in subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Commerce, Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, Kannada, English and Hindi. Each paper was generally worth 50 marks and allowed 150 minutes.
Candidates selected a combination connected to their intended degree. Engineering applicants normally studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, while commerce and management applicants chose subjects such as Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics. Other papers, including vocational subjects, were assigned according to the official paper grid.
Exact syllabi, permitted calculators and reserved-category conditions could vary by course. Applicants should therefore use the official KCET Cell portal for the final notification rather than relying on coaching-centre calendars.
Registration and application schedule
Online applications opened on 12 February 2025 and closed on 12 March 2025. The process required registration, personal and academic details, examination choices, photograph upload and payment through the designated online gateway.
The notification provided a correction window from 18–20 March. This was the period to correct eligible details such as spelling, date of birth, marks or contact information. Some entries could not be changed after the window closed.
Applicants needed Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets, a recent passport photograph and relevant caste, income or institutional certificates where applicable. Keeping clear scans ready prevented delays when document verification followed the result announcement.
Exam dates and paper sessions
The examination ran across two days with morning and afternoon sessions. Morning papers were scheduled from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, while afternoon papers ran from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm, both in Indian Standard Time.
On 15 April, the morning choices included Kannada and English. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics papers were available in the afternoon. Candidates pursuing an engineering pathway generally sat all three afternoon subjects.
On 16 April, the morning schedule covered Hindi, Commerce, Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics. Biology was offered in the afternoon, with other papers placed into relevant slots under the official timetable. The hall ticket was the final authority for each candidate’s subject, centre and reporting time.
Hall tickets and exam-day procedures
Hall tickets became downloadable from 29 March 2025. Candidates should check the examination centre, subject combination and reporting time immediately after downloading the document, since an error discovered on examination day could cause serious disruption.
Centres commonly required a printed hall ticket, an authorised identity document and the stationery permitted for the paper. Australian exam customs offer a useful comparison: students commonly use black or blue pens, an HB pencil, a ruler and only an approved calculator, with phones, smartwatches and bags left outside the room.
Personal composure matters, but practical preparation matters more. The discipline shown in rock stage presence can help with nerves, yet KCET centres reward restraint and rule-following. Modest clothing, an early breakfast and a clear route to the venue reduce avoidable stress.
Answer key, objections and result
The provisional answer key was published on 6 May 2025. The objection window ran from 8–10 May, allowing candidates to challenge specific questions with the prescribed fee and supporting argument. The final answer key followed on 12 May.
The result was released on 14 May 2025 through the CET Cell portal. It provided subject marks, overall performance and the applicable rank or percentile used in subsequent admission processes. Candidates should download the scorecard even if they have already received a news report about their rank.
Rank and subject marks must not be confused with guaranteed admission. Document verification, institutional eligibility and seat availability remained separate stages. Karnataka Examinations Authority published any later counselling, fee-payment or seat-allotment schedule separately.
KCET dates beside Australian planning milestones
The schedule below sets the examination milestones against practical Australian planning points. This is particularly useful for families comparing an immediate Karnataka degree with an Australian university offer, a local foundation course or a later international application.
All examination and result dates use IST unless a source states otherwise. Applicants outside India should convert notifications carefully because Australian daylight-saving rules had changed before the April examination.
| KCET milestone | Official 2025 timing | Australian planning comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Online applications open | 12 February | Review subject combinations and Queensland, NSW or Victorian entry requirements |
| Applications close | 12 March | Check deadlines for local preparatory courses and English-language testing |
| Application corrections | 18–20 March | Update passport, school and contact records before documentation |
| Hall tickets available | From 29 March | Arrange travel and centre access; use the Indian venue clock |
| Examination sessions | 15–16 April | Avoid booking Australian travel or work commitments across the two-day window |
| Provisional answer key | 6 May | Keep proof of answers and academic claims for score checking |
| Objection window | 8–10 May | Compare disputed calculations with Karnataka’s provisional marks |
| Final answer key | 12 May | Confirm changes before evaluating admission preferences |
| Result | 14 May | Compare KCET performance with Australian entry requirements and costs |
| Counselling and verification | Separate KEA notice after the result | Review course-specific conditions before accepting any place |
The official portal remains the controlling source if an institutional or regional notice differs from an earlier schedule. Australian families should also compare annual tuition in AUD with the quoted INR amount, then allow for accommodation, travel, exchange-rate movement and visa expenses.
A practical KCET preparation checklist
Candidates benefit from separating document tasks from revision tasks. The following checklists keep deadlines visible without allowing an early admission plan to obscure the immediate entrance requirements.
Before the examination
- Confirm the subject combination against the degree requirements
- Download and verify the hall ticket and centre address
- Keep required identity, marksheet and category documents accessible
- Practise the full paper duration under examination conditions
After the result and during counselling
- Download the scorecard and preserve the final answer key
- Check attendance, eligibility and reservation-related certificates
- Compare Karnataka course fees with Australian options in both currencies
- Track each allotment and payment deadline in the KEA calendar
Save the key dates, bookmark the official pages and review each notification as it appears. Before paying for another preparatory course or considering a move from Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney or Perth, compare education classifieds with university fee pages, accreditation records and local entry requirements so the final decision reflects both academic fit and total cost.
